Bangladesh to enjoy 23 public holidays in 2015

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)-The cabinet of Bangladesh Monday approved 23 public holidays for the year 2015.
The approval was given in the regular meeting of the cabinet held at Bangladesh Secretariat with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair.
Briefing reporters after the meeting, Cabinet Secretary M Musharraf Hossain Bhuiyan said there will be a total of 23 public days in the country in 2015.
Out of those public holidays, 15 days are general public holidays on the occasion of various national days and religious functions of different communities, reports BSS.
The remaining eight public holidays will be observed through the executive order.
However, 15 public holidays include nine weekly holidays and eight public holidays of executive order will include three weekly holidays, the cabinet secretary said.
Musharraf said according to the Hijree calendar year, the country will have two Eid-e Miladunnabi holidays in 2015.
First Eid-e-Miladunnabi holiday falls on January 4, 2015 while second one on December 24, 2015.
Today's cabinet meeting was also informed of a report on commitment and disbursement of foreign grants for various projects.
It was told that commitment of US$ 19.3 billion foreign aid remains in the pipeline at present.
The cabinet secretary said the country since independence has got commitment of US$ 86.89 billion from donors.
Out of that, so far US$ 67.59 has been utilized in implementing various projects, he said.
