Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)-Detective Branch (DB) of police have arrested five people, including the deputy general manager and chief captain of Biman Bangladesh Airlines, for their alleged link with gold smuggling at Dhaka airport.

Of the five, three are Biman officials. They are: Emdad Hossain, deputy general manager (DGM-flight scheduling); Captain Abu Mohammad Aslam Shaheed (chief of planning and scheduling); and Tozammel Hossain, manager scheduling.
The two others are: Harun-Ur-Rashid, owner of Farhan Money Exchange, and Polash, a contractor of Biman.
A team of DB police detained them from the capital’s Uttara and Bashundhara area last night, said Masudur Rahman, deputy commissioner (media and public relations) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP).
During preliminary interrogation, the detainees revealed the involvement of several others Biman staff with the gold smuggling, the DMP deputy commissioner said.
The involved Biman staff will be brought under law after finding proper information against them, he added.
