Janata bank launches SMS savings project

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- The state owned Janata Bank formally launched a new scheme on Thursday titled 'small savings project at home' through SMS to attain the economic prosperity for the low-income people.
Chairman of the bank Abul Barkat inaugurated the project at Tongi, which is the first-ever implementation of Bangladesh Bank's e-banking system, the bank officials said. 
Under the scheme, each client will get the opportunity to deposit between BDT 100 and BDT 5,000 at a time. If he or she has at least BDT 3,000 deposited in the account, then she or he will enjoy the opportunity of 4.0 per cent to 6.5 per cent interest annually, they added.
