Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- The High Commission of India has announced introduction of mandatory online submission of visa applications for nationals of all countries applying for visa with Indian Visa Application Centres (IVACs), Dhaka, Sylhet and Chittagong with effect from August 17. 
Persons desiring to apply for visa to travel to India may visit the website of Indian Visa Application Centre (IVAC) at www.ivacbd.com or High Commission of India, Dhaka at www.hcidhaka.org and register their applications online, an Indian High Commission announcement said in Dhaka on Sunday.   
After registering online, the applicants must take a print out of their application and submit the application along with valid passport and other documents at one of the IVACs mentioned below, between 0800 hrs- 1200 hrs on the date of appointment given in the online application:
Residents of Dhaka, Khulna and Barisal Divisions- IVAC, Gulshan, Dhaka or IVAC, Motijheel, Dhaka
Residents of Sylhet Division- IVAC, Sylhet and residents of Chittagong Division – IVAC, Chittagong.
Online application will not be valid beyond the date for which it has been issued. 
“Persons traveling to India for emergency medical treatment will be allowed to pre-schedule their online applications on a case to case basis. Such persons or their attendants may seek assistance from “Medical Help Desk” at IVAC, Gulshan, Dhaka / IVAC, Chittagong,” the announcement added. 
One member of a family is permitted to submit the online visa applications on behalf of other family members, subject to a maximum of five such applications of the same date and subject to production of proof of relationship. For this purpose, family constitutes spouse, children and parents, it noted. 
Visa applications of members of parliament and judiciary; chairman/ chief executive officer/ managing director of established companies and members of their families; and persons above 70 years of age can be submitted through a representative carrying valid authorization and proof of identity. 
“Visa applications of Bangladeshi nationals who have already registered through the e-token system till August 16, 2010 will be accepted at the respective Indian Visa Application Centres on the dates and timings indicated in the e-tokens,” the high commission said.
E-token system will remain operational for residents of Rajshahi Division applying for visa with Assistant High Commission of India, Rajshahi till further notification.
