Last updated: August 8, 2010
Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- The US dollar approached a 15-year low against the Japanese Yen (JPY) on Friday and fell against the Euro (EUR) after news that the United States' economy shed twice as many jobs in July as expected added to worries about the recovery. The USD fell as low as 85.03 JPY, its lowest level in eight months and near a 15-year trough beneath 85.
A disappointing jobs report sent investors out of stocks and the US dollar on Friday and into assets perceived as being safer. The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed down 21.42 points or 0.2 percent at 10,653.56 while the Nasdaq composite index fell 4.59 points or 0.2 percent to 2,288.47, according to reports.
