Dhaka stocks rise continuously, turnover hit third highest in two months

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- Dhaka stocks continued its upward rally for the ninth day on Tuesday with the turnover hitting the third highest in two months.

The DSE General Index (DGEN) soared 0.63 percent or 41.08 points to a new high of 6662.96, lifted by telecommunications, leasing, fuel and power, and pharmaceuticals stocks. 

The broader DSE All Shares Price Index (DSI) gained 0.76 per cent or 42.39 points to end at 5563.24. The DSE-20 blue chip index was up by 0.60 per cent or 23.12 points to 3836.16.

Turnover increased significantly to BDT 24.4 billion, up by 13.02 percent over the previous session, and the third highest since June 16.

The increase in participation of new investors, influenced by heavy gains of stocks, had resulted in nine-day bull run of the market, marker operators said.
