Indian stocks plunge

Sensex ends flat, Banking stocks recover on rate cut hopes

Last updated: May 27, 2015

New Delhi, India (BBN)-The BSE benchmark Sensex ended on a flat note in trades on Wednesday on the back of buying in banking, oil & gas, capital goods and FMCG stocks.

The 50-share Nifty closed marginally lower led by losses in blue-chip stocks such as Tata Motors, Tech Mahindra, Infosys and Tata Steel, reports NDTV.

For the most part of the day the Sensex traded in the red but managed to recover from intraday lows as buying in banking stocks resumed after news reports surfaced that the Reserve Bank of India would likely cut interest rates in its upcoming monetary policy review.
