Bangladesh submarine cable gets ISP license

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)–Bangladesh Submarine Cable Company Limited (BSCCL), a listed company in the telecommunication sector, has got the nationwide internet service provider (ISP) license from the Bangladesh telecom regulator, officials said.

“The company has informed that as per its application for business expansion, Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Communication (BRTC) has granted an ISP license in favour of the BSCCL,” said a Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) web post on Tuesday.

The BSCCL is an International Long Distance Communications and International Internet Gateway (IIG) operator that provides various Telecommunications services through the Submarine Cable network.

From now on, the company will be able to send the internet services to the doorsteps of people and to strengthen the data communication.

Emerging in July 2008 as a public limited company under the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications, Govt. of Bangladesh; BSCCL operates and maintains Bangladesh’s submarine cable.

BSCCL is a member of the SEA-ME-WE-4 (South East Asia-Middle East-Western Europe-4) submarine cable and plays important roles as the representative of Bangladesh in the SMW-4 international cable consortium.
