Last updated: September 28, 2008

New York, NY (BBN)- United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has voiced his deep concern over recent bombings in Indian cities that target civilian areas, after a blast on Saturday at a market in the capital, Delhi, killed a 13-year-old boy and injured many others.

Mr. Ban “strongly condemns these reprehensible acts that have caused the death and injury of many civilians and calls for the perpetrators to be brought to justice,” according to a statement issued by his spokesperson.

Further, he “reiterates his consistent position that no cause or grievance can justify the resort to terrorism.”

In the statement, the UN chief also extended his sympathies to the families of those killed and injured, as well as to the government and people of India.
