Washington, US (BBN)-The highly anticipated version of the popular computer operating system, Windows 10, is all set for its release on July 29.
While Microsoft is rolling out brand new features with the new OS, it is also pulling out some to make the user experience smoother, reports IBN Live.
Here are the seven features Microsoft is deprecating from the next OS which you need to know before you make the switch:
1. WINDOWS MEDIA CENTRE: One of the biggest cut from Windows 10 is the Media Centre.
Microsoft notes in its blog that if you have previous versions of Windows (including, Windows 7 Home Premium, Windows 7 Professional, Windows 7 Ultimate, Windows 8 Pro with Media Center, or Windows 8.1 Pro with Media Centre and you install Windows 10), Windows Media Center will be removed.
2. SEPARATE SOFTWARE FOR PLAYING DVDS: This is going to be a blow for those who have long relied on playing DVDs through the Windows Media Centre.
With that being removed in the first place, you will now be required to have a separate playback software for DVDs.
3. WINDOWS 7 DESKTOP GADGETS: These will be removed the moment you upgrade to Windows 10.
4. WINDOWS UPDATES AVAILABILITY: Users having Windows 10 Home version will have the updates automatically available.
Those running Windows 10 Pro and Windows 10 Enterprise will have the ability to defer updates.
5. BYE-BYE CLASSIC GAMES : Solitaire, Minesweeper, and Hearts Games that come pre-installed on Windows 7 will be removed as part of installing the Windows 10 upgrade.
Microsoft has instead released new version of Solitaire and Minesweeper called the “Microsoft Solitaire Collection” and “Microsoft Minesweeper.”
6. USB FLOPPY DRIVE: You will need to download the latest driver from Windows Update or from the manufacturer's website for USB floppy drive.
7. WINDOWS LIVE ESSENTIALS: If you have this installed on your system, the One Drive app will be removed and replaced with an inbox version of the cloud storage.
Although these features won’t make it to Windows 10, Microsoft has other bounties on offer, like the new-age Edge browser, a pre-installed Candy Crush game, a refreshed Windows Phone Maps app, and the first-ever inclusion of the middle finger emoji.
