Wimbledon 2015: Andy Murray to play Mikhail Kukushkin

Last updated: June 30, 2015

London, UK (BBN)-British number one Andy Murray begins his bid to reclaim the Wimbledon title he won in 2013 against Mikhail Kukushkin of Kazakhstan on Tuesday.

The pair will meet in the third match on Centre Court at about 17:00 BST, reports BBC.

Defending women's champion Petra Kvitova opens play on day two against Dutch player Kiki Bertens at 13:00.

Former champions Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal are also in action, while former British number one Laura Robson faces Russia's Evgeniya Rodina.

Second seed Federer plays Bosnian Damir Dzumhur in the second match on Centre Court, while 10th seed Nadal opens play on Court One against Thomaz Bellucci of Brazil.

"I am practising well this week," said Nadal, who has not been beyond the fourth round in his past three visits to Wimbledon.

"Let's see if I am able to compete well. I'm just happy to be here healthy, that's the most important thing."

The Court One schedule is completed by Romanian third seed Simona Halep taking on Jana Cepelova of Slovakia, and Czech sixth seed Tomas Berdych against Frenchman Jeremy Chardy.

Seven British players will be on show on day two as temperatures are forecast to exceed 30C.

Murray, seeded third, arrives at Wimbledon in good form having won his fourth Queen's Club title nine days ago after his best clay-court season.

"It's tough to say whether I'm at my peak but I do feel like I'm playing extremely well right now," the Scot said in his BBC Sport column.

"I don't think I could have prepared any better for the biggest tournament of the year."

Murray has won his two previous meetings against world number 59 Kukushkin, both of which were on Australian hard courts in 2012.

Aside from Murray and Robson, Britain's Aljaz Bedene plays Radek Stepanek, Kyle Edmund faces Alexandr Dolgopolov, James Ward takes on Luca Vanni, and Brydan Klein is up against Andreas Seppi.

British women's number one Heather Watson will resume at one set all against France's 32nd seed Caroline Garcia.

Meanwhile Robson, playing only her second match since returning after 17 months out with a wrist injury, faces world number 101 Rodina.

"To be honest, I would have preferred to start at smaller tournaments than this," said the 21-year-old wildcard.

"I think I'm pretty realistic that my level is not at the point where it was before I was injured."

Elsewhere, Danish fifth seed Caroline Wozniacki plays China's Saisai Zheng and last year's runner-up, Canadian Eugenie Bouchard, takes on Ying-Ying Duan of China.

Bouchard, 21, has won just eight matches all year.
