Weekly roundup: BDT looses ground against US dollar

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) - The Bangladesh Taka (BDT) lost ground against the Greenback in last week's trading, treasury officials said

The weekly strengthening of the US Dollar (USD) marked the highest monthly depreciation of the BDT against the Greenback in 2010 (approximately 1.26 percent).

The USD gained BDT 0.88 per USD over the month of September. The USD/BDT started the week at around 69.7950 level and rallied to break the BDT 70.00 level on Tuesday in direct USD/BDT trading.

Last two days of the week saw a whopping BDT 0.45 depreciation per USD. The week ended trading at around 70.53 level, they confirmed.
