India invites application from descendants of freedom fighters

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- The Indian High Commission in Dhaka has invited applications from descendants of liberation war freedom fighters, who were pursuing undergraduate and higher secondary studies in Bangladesh, for award of annual scholarships by the Indian government for academic year 2010-2011.

The amount of scholarship is BDT 2,000 per month for four years for undergraduate students and BDT 500 per month for two years for higher secondary students, said an Indian High Commission press statement said in Dhaka on Monday.

The release said male students who secured GPA 3 and above and female students who secured GPA 2.5 and above and have obtained admission in a recognise institutions for continued studies were eligible to apply for this scholarship.

Interested students may apply for the scholarship addressed to High Commission of India or download the application form from the website www.hcidhaka.org.
