6 killed in Bangladesh road crash

Comilla, Bangladesh (BBN)-At least six people were killed and seven injured in a road accident on Dhaka-Chittagong highway in Comilla, an eastern district of Bangladesh, Monday morning.

The accident took place at Nandanpur in Sadar upazila of Comilla district when a goods-laden Dhaka-bound truck turned turtle, local police said.

The truck twisted its route as the trucker lost his control over the steering as soon as the vehicle reached Nandanpur, police added.

The six people who were sitting on the truck died instantly when the vehicle plunged into a roadside ditch following the impact of the speech which the trucker could not control, police said.

Confusion raised centring the identity of the deceased as local police claimed them as construction worker while some local media branded them as fish traders.

On information, police rushed to the spot and recovered the injured.

The injured were admitted to Comilla Medical College Hospital.

Two critically injured victims were sent to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital for treatment.

Local police seized the truck immediately after the accident.

But the trucker managed to flee the scene.

The bodies have been kept at Maynamati Highway Police Station.
