Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- The Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA) on Thursday lauded the government for deploying troops at the country's prime port in Chittagong.

On Wednesday, the government deployed army at the Chittagong port, the main entry-point for the country's external trade, after a spate of unrest gripped the berth operation there.

A statement of BKMEA has requested the government not to withdraw the troops until establishment of transparency and discipline in the port's operations.

The country's apex trade body comprising apparel manufacturers, BGMEA, Wednesday also praised the army deployment at the country’s prime port.
