BSRM Steels dominates week’s top turnover chart

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- BSRM Steels, a Chittagong based steels maker, dominated the week’s top turnover chart on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) last week that ended on Tuesday.
A total of 5.32 million shares worth BDT 496 million were changed hands during the week.
Daily average turnover for the engineering sector company was BDT 165.27 million.
The week’s closing price of each BSRM Steels share was BDT 96, registering an increase of 7.50 percent over the previous week.
The company has reported un-audited profit after tax for the Jan-15 to June-15 was BDT 1,054.43 million with earning per shares (EPS) of BDT 3.09 as against BDT 817.53 million and BDT 2.39 respectively for the same period of the previous year.
The company disbursed 15 percent cash dividend for the year ended on December 31, 2014.
Currently, the company’s paid-up capital is BDT 3,417.8 million and authorized capital BDT 5,000 million while total number of securities is 341,775,000.
BSRM Steels, the Chittagong based steel maker listed on the Dhaka bourse in 2009. The engineering sector company is belonging to ‘A’ category, according to DSE website information.
Of the total shares – sponsor-directors held by 70.87 percent, intuitions 15.41 percent, foreign investors 0.35 percent and public held by 13.37 per cent shares.

Recently, BSRM Steels decided to issue Zero Coupon Bond of BDT 2,000 million subject to the approval from the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission.
The proceeds will be used for capital expenditure/ refinancing of costly loans and equity investment in the power project of BSRM Group of Companies.
The week’s other turnover leaders were KPCL with shares worth BDT 496 million changed hands followed by Beximco Pharma BDT 356 million, Aman Feed BDT 310 million, IFAD Autos BDT 309 million and United Airways BDT 295 million.
BSRM Limited also came to the list with share of BDT 277 million changed hands during the week followed by Lafarge Surma Cement BDT 263 million, Square Pharma BDT 262 million and Islami Bank BDT 258 million changed hands during the week.
