Bangladesh warns against fraudulence in manpower export through Nepal

Last updated: October 16, 2010

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- The government has issued a warning asking officials and the people intending to go abroad as workers to be cautious against fraudulence in manpower export using Nepal as a transit route.

"A clique of brokers and manpower recruiters in connivance with some hotel owners and agents allure Bangladeshi nationals into Kathmandu promising them to be sent to different Middle Eastern countries in exchange for a huge amount of money," an official statement said in Dhaka on Saturday.

But, it said, there was no scope for Bangladeshi nationals to go aboard as laborers of Nepal.

"The number of people, being cheated by unscrupulous recruiting agents, is rising" the statement noted.

The statement came as overseas employment ministry officials said the dishonest manpower traders were sending a number of Bangladeshi workers to Kathmandu to go abroad in other countries as "Nepalese workers".
