Bangladesh’s stocks edge lower

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)-Bangladesh’s stocks edged lower for the two running sessions on Thursday with high volatility as investors were remained followed cautious stance.
Both the Dhaka Stock Exchange, the prime bourse of Bangladesh, and Chittagong Stock Exchange, the port city bourse of the country, nosedived.
The prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) plunged 9.14 points and the port city bourse Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) slumped 27.84 points.
DHAKA STOCK EXCHANGE:
Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) went down by 9.14 points or 0.20 per cent to settle the week at 4,502.16.
The DS30 index, comprising blue chips, fell 2.51 points or 0.14 per cent to end at 1,711.36.
The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) shed 0.54 points or 0.05 per cent to finish at 1,084.47.
However, DSE turnover improved to BDT 3.35 billion, which was 15.5 per cent higher than the previous session’s BDT 2.90 billion.
The losers took a strong lead over the gainers as out of 318 traded issues, 175 closed lower, 96 higher and 47 remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.
IFAD Autos dominated the day’s turnover chart with shares of BDT 231 million changing hands followed by Titas Gas, Appollo Ispat, BRSM and Square Pharma.
National Tubes was the day’s best performer, posting a rise of 11.72 per cent while BD Autocars was the day’s worst loser, plunging by 12.04 per cent.
CHITTAGONG STOCK EXCHANGE:
The port city bourse Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed lower with its Selective Categories Index- CSCX- slumping 27.84 points to end at 8,367.86.
Losers beat gain gainers 63 to 138, with 38 issues remaining unchanged on the port city bourse that traded 6.44 million shares and mutual fund units with a value of BDT 224 million.
