Bangladesh football team leaves for China Thursday to play in Asian Games

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- A 20-member Bangladesh Under-23 Football team leaves the capital Dhaka for China Thursday night to take part in the 16th Asian Games to be held in the Chinese city of Guangzhou on November 7-25 this year.

Bangladesh has been placed in Group E along with UAE, Uzbekistan and Hong Kong.

In the 20-member national squad, 15 players are from new sensation Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club. Of the remaining five booters, Himel, Mamun and Jitu come from Abahani Limited while Zahed and Mithun are from Muktijoddha Sangsad KC.

Bangladesh will start their Asian Games campaign against strong Uzbekistan on November 7, play UAE on November 9 and face Hong Kong in their 3rd and last group match on November 11, according to the scheduled.

This will be the first assignment for the Croatian-born Bangladesh’s head coach Robert Rubcic, who took charge of the national team in September 2010.
