Bank Asia highlights agent banking in fair

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)– Bank Asia Limited is highlighting its agent banking product at the Banking Fair Bangladesh-2015 to bring more un-banked people in the banking network across the country.
The clients will be allowed to settle all types of transaction through the bank’s agent banking outlets, Razibul Akbor, trainee officer of Bank Asia, told BBN at the fair in Dhaka on Wednesday.
Bangladesh Bank Governor Dr Atiur Rahman inaugurated the five-day long banking fair on Bangla Academy premises in Dhaka on Tuesday aiming to build a banking nation through boosting the ongoing financial inclusion campaign in Bangladesh.
The clients will operate their savings, current, and DPS related account through the outlets of the bank’s agent banking, the bank official explained.
The private commercial bank (PCB) has already opened 94 outlets across the 35 districts of the country to speed up the financial inclusion programme.
Bank Asia has also introduced biometric device to the clients, who have no educational literacy, to operate their account with the agent banks’ outlet, Mr. Razibul disclosed.
Under the outlet of the agent banking, the bank disburses farm and SME loan, paying the inward remittance to the client, fund transfer to other branch of Bank Asia, utility bill payment by the clients and debit card processing related activities.
The students will also be allowed to operate the account under the school banking by taking help from the outlets of the agent banking, the banker added.
