Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) – State-owned Agrani Bank Ltd is working to highlight its credit product to the lower income group at the Banking Fair Bangladesh-2015 as part of the government’s poverty reduction programme.
The marginal people will be allowed to receive maximum Tk 10,000 with an interest rate of 10 per cent, Kamal Ahmed, a senior officer of Agrani Bank, told the BBN during the ongoing fair.
The five-day long baking fair is going on in Dhaka from November 24.
Bangladesh Bank Governor Dr Atiur Rahman inaugurated the fair on Bangla Academy premises.
The repayment tenure of the loan is 1 year and the clients will not have to submit collateral securities under the product.
The bank is also focusing another credit product at the fair to purchase CNG-run auto rickshaw, battery-run easy bike, tempo and tempo-van by the clients.
The clients will be allowed to receive loan maximum of BDT 3 lakh with an interest rate of 10 per cent.
The repayment tenure of the loan is three-year.
The lower-income people will be able to be self-employed after purchasing the vehicles by taking credit from the bank, Mr Ahmed said.
The bank is also informing the clients about its expansion of Islamic banking, he said adding that Agrani Bank has already opened five windows of the Shariah-based banking.
