Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) - Dutch-Bangla Bank Limited (DBBL) is highlighting its POS (Point of Sale) terminal facilities for the rural people at the Banking Fair Bangladesh-2015.
The private commercial bank has recently introduced a new product namely ‘Biometric Savings Account’ for the rural people and the client will be able to withdraw their deposit by using the POS terminals, Abdur Rahman a city in charge for the mobile banking of the DBBL, told BBN at fair premise in Dhaka on Wednesday.
Bangladesh Bank Governor Dr Atiur Rahman inaugurated the five-day long banking fair on Bangla Academy premises in Dhaka on Tuesday aiming to build a banking nation through boosting the ongoing financial inclusion campaign in Bangladesh.
“Our clients are now enjoying cash withdraw facility from Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) by using their debit card,” Mr. Rahman explained.
Under the new products, the rural clients of the DBBL will not require to use the ATM booth and debit card to withdraw the deposit.
The clients will give their thumb print with the bi-metric device to identify them (clients), he added.
The DBBL is operating the bio-metric device as many of rural people will usually not enjoy technology-based ATM booth.
The PCB has already set up 103 agent banking outlets to operate the product in which the clients will enjoy cash withdrawal facility.
“We’ve planned to set up more outlets of the agent banking to popular new services across the country,” the private banker noted.
He also said the client will get 4.0 per cent interest against their deposited amount under the product.
