Kerala, India (BBN)-Indian-origin business tycoon Ravi Pillai hosted an incredibly flamboyant wedding for his daughter Arathi's marriage to Kochi-based doctor Aditya Vishnu, in the city of Kollam in Kerala on November 26.
With an estimated cost of 550 million rupees or $8 million, the wedding was an extravagant display of wealth, reports the Mashable.
The larger-than-life sets were inspired by the royal palaces of Rajasthan, as well as Indian cinema.
Designed by film art director Sabu Cyril, who also headed the production design of the recent multi-lingual blockbuster Bahubaali: The Beginning, they took approximately 75 days to build.
The air-conditioned venue was spread across eight acres, even surpassing the five-acre area of the film's sets.
There were over 30,000 guests from 42 countries in attendance, including members of the royal families of Qatar.
Bahrain and Saudi Arabia, as well as several politicians, film personalities, CEOs and senior executives from companies such as Samsung and Japan Gas Corporation.
Pillai's business empire spans 26 companies with over 80,000 employees.
Many of these are active in the Gulf region, especially in construction, mining, education and infrastructure.
