Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- Siemens will provide a gas turbine and the associated generator for the Sirajgonj Phase III power plant in Bangladesh.
The combined cycle power plant will have a total electrical output of approximately 220 megawatts (MW), a company spokesperson told BBN in Dhaka.
He also said Siemens will provide the power plant equipments to China International Machinery Import and Export Company (CMC), which will build the plant in its capacity as EPC (engineering, procurement, construction) contractor for the end customer North West Power Generation Company Ltd. (NWPGCL).
The power plant is scheduled to go production for September 2018.
Siemens’ scope of supply for Sirajgonj Phase III includes one SGT5-2000E gas turbine and one SGen-100A generator.
Siemens has received its ninth order from Bangladesh for power plant components.
In 2010 and 2015 Siemens also supplied the gas turbines and generators for the two Sirajgonj Phase I and II plants. Along with the order for Sirajgonj Phase III combined cycle power plant, the company will also supply key components for the Ashuganj, Ashuganj South, Ashuganj North, Shikalbaha, Bibiyana South and Ghorashal power plants.
“We are pleased that our customer is placing its trust in our proven SGT5-2000E gas turbine with this follow-up order,” Indranil Lahiri, CEO Siemens Bangladesh Limited, said.
“With the supply of Siemens power plant technology we are supporting our customer CMC in its efforts to expand the power generating capacity of the country”, he explained.
