Bangladesh signs Elevated Expressway deal with selected bidder Wednesday

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- The government signs the Dhaka Elevated Expressway (DEE) deal with the Italian-Thai Development Public Company Ltd on Wednesday aiming to implement the 26-kilometre project.

The signing ceremony will be held at the Ballroom of Hotel Sonargaon in Dhaka  at 11am. Bridge Division of the Communications Ministry will arrange the signing ceremony. It will be the biggest project to be implemented under public private partnership till now.

The construction of the expressway would start within three months of signing, and is expected to be completed within the tenure of the incumbent government.

On August 23 last, the Cabinet approved the long-expected Dhaka Elevated Expressway (DEE) route.

Construction of the expressway would be completed within December 2013, at an estimated cost of US$ 2.5 billion.

The DEE has been planned to improve road connectivity between the northern part of Dhaka City and the central, south and south eastern parts, linking important commercial and business centers of the capital.
