Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)-Bangladesh’s stocks witnessed upward trend in early hour of trading on Thursday, the last trading session of the week as well as the budget day.
The Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith will unveil the national budget for the fiscal year (FY) 2016-17 at the Jatiya Sangsad (JS) today at 3:00pm.
Both bourses -- the prime bourse Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and the port city bourse Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) saw upward trend.
The key index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) advanced 10.68 points, while the selective catagory index of Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) earned 11.20 points within 15 minutes of the day’s trading.
DHAKA STOCK EXCHANGE:
DSEX, the prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), went up by 10.68 points or 0.24 per cent to stand at 4,432.48 points, when the report was filed at 10:45am.
The DS30 index, comprising blue chips, advanced 8.11 points or 0.46 per cent to reach at 1,754.23 points.
The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) also gained 2.22 points or 0.20 per cent to reach at 1,093.77 points.
DSE turnover stands at BDT 344 million when the report was filed at 10:45am.
Of the issues traded till then, 86 advanced, 35 declined and 38 issues remained unchanged.
United Airways dominated the turnover chart with shares worth BDT 80 million changing hands till then, followed by Shahjibazar Power Company, Beximco, Far East Knitting and Dyeing and Lafarge Surma Cement.
CHITTAGONG STOCK EXCHANGE:
The port city bourse also saw positive trend at opening with its Selective Category Index- CSCX– gaining 11.20 points to stand at 8,294.97 points, also at 10:45am.
Of the issues traded till then, 28 gained, 13 declined 4 issues remained unchanged with a turnover value of BDT 23 million.
