Andhra Pradesh, India (BBN)-A monkey escaped with more than $149 (10,000.0 Indian Rupees approx.) after snatching a bundle of cash during a raid on a jewellers in India.
CCTV footage of the brazen theft at the shop in the southern state of Andhra Pradesh has just emerged, reports the Sky News.
The film shows a member of staff offering a piece of fruit to the monkey, which was sitting outside the shop door.
Moments later, the cheeky animal managed to push open the door before heading straight for the cash counter.
Footage shows it sitting on a chair, before the furry thief pulls out a bundle of notes from a drawer and jumps over the counter.
It then runs off with the money clutched in its mouth, with shop staff chasing it.
An effort by an employee to stop the pilfering primate by offering it a banana proved fruitless.
Ravi, the owner of Sri Lalitha jewellers, said: "The monkey was sitting outside the shop and suddenly it came in and sat near the cash counter.
"It looked here and there for a while and then suddenly took out money from the drawer and ran away.
"We offered him food but he did not take any."
It escaped with 10,000 rupees - worth $149) - according to officials. The footage was filmed last month and has just emerged after becoming a viral hit in India.
