Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) - MJL Bangladesh emerged as turnover leader on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) last week that ended on Thursday as enthusiastic investors grabbed its shares amid optimism.
According to statistics from the DSE, some 6.78 million MJL shares were traded, generating a turnover of above BDT 737 million, which was 3.18 percent of the premier bourse’s total turnover.
The daily average turnover for the company was BDT 148 million.
The joint venture company’s share closed at BDT 110 on Thursday, the last trading day of the week, appreciating 2.42 percent over the previous week.
The fuel and power sector company, which was listed on the Dhaka bourse in 2011, has recommended 30 per ent cash and 10 percent stock dividend for the year ended on December 31, 2015.
The company has also reported consolidated earnings per share (EPS) BDT 4.18, consolidated net asset value (NAV) per share BDT 35.08 and consolidated net operating cash flow per share (NOCFPS) BDT 8.93 for the year ended on December 31, 2015 as against BDT 3.83, BDT 31.26 and BDT 1.48 for the year previous year.
The company has also disclosed first quarter (Q1) earnings report. As per Q1 financial report (un-audited), EPS was BDT 1.51 for January-March, 2016 as against BDT 0.71 for January-March, 2015.
The sponsor-directors own 71.53 percent stake in the MJL BD, while the institutional investors own 14.21 percent, foreign 1.95 percent and the general public own 12.31 percent as on June 30, 2016, the DSE data showed.
The company’s paid-up capital is BDT 2,742.44 million and authorised capital is BDT 10,000 million, while the total number of securities is 274,244,180. The total market cap of the company stood at Tk 30,468.53 million as of Thursday.
MJL BD was, closely followed by Bangladesh Steel Re-rolling Mills, with shares worth BDT 682 million changing hands, followed by Delta Brac Housing Finance Corporation BDT 610 million, BSRM Steels BDT 605 million, Lafarge Surma Cement BDT 544 million and Bangladesh Shipping Corporation BDT 439 million.
Square Pharmaceuticals was also included in the top ten turnover chart with shares worth BDT 433 million changing hands, followed by ACME Laboratories BDT 431 million and CVO Petrochemicals Refinery BDT 405 million.
