ACME rules week’s turnover chart on DSE

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- ACME Laboratories dominated the transaction chart of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) last week that ended on Thursday.
According to statistics available with the DSE, some 11.06 million ACME shares were traded, generating a turnover of nearly BDT 1.20 million, which was 4.70 percent of the DSE’s total turnover.
The daily average turnover for the company was BDT 240 million.
The country’s oldest pharmaceuticals company’s share closed at BDT 107.10, shedding 0.93 percent over the previous week.
Meanwhile, the board of directors of the ACME recommended 35 percent cash dividend for the year ended on June 30, 2016 on Tuesday.
The final approval will come during the annual generation meeting (AGM) scheduled to be held on November 7. The record date for entitlement of cash dividend is on October 13.
ACME, which was listed on the stock exchanges in June this year, has also reported earning per share (EPS) of BDT 6.55, net asset value (NAV) per share of BDT 77.34 and net operating cash flow per share (NOCFPS) of BDT 6.25 for the year ended on June 30, 2016 as against BDT 5.70, BDT 70.37 and BDT 6.50 respectively for the same period of the previous year.
ACME’s paid-up capital is BDT 2,116.02 million and authorised capital is BDT 5,000 million, while the total number of securities is 211,601,700.
The sponsor-directors own 38.88 percent stake in the ACME, while institutional investors own 23.88 percent, foreign 0.73 percent and the general public 36.51 percent as on July 31, 2016, the DSE data showed.
ACME was, followed by Square Pharmaceuticals with shares worth BDT 1.01 billion changing hands, followed by Lafarge Surma Cement BDT 843 million, Shahjibazar Power Company BDT 752 million, Bangladesh Submarine Cable Company BDT 744 million and Singer Bangladesh BDT 646 million.
United Power Generation and Distribution Company was also included in the top ten turnover chart with shares worth BDT 518 million changing hands, followed by KDS Accessories BDT 512 million, National Tubes BDT 510 and MJL Bangladesh BDT 498 million.
