Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- The newly listed Yeakin Polymer dominated the transaction chart of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) last week that ended on Thursday as investors were active on its shares almost throughout the week.
According to statistics available with the DSE, some 24.78 million shares of Yeakin were traded, generating a turnover of over BDT 978 million last week. It was 2.91 percent of the week’s total turnover value on DSE.
The average daily turnover for the Khulna-based polypropylene (PP) woven bag manufacturer’s was BDT 163 million as the week witnessed six trading sessions instead of usual five.
Each share of the company closed at BDT 38.60 on Thursday, the last trading session of the week, soaring 21.38 percent over the previous week.
Yeakin Polymer, which raised BDT 200 million through initial public offering (IPO) using the fixed price method, made its share trading debut on September 22.
On debut day, its share price jumped 218 percent to close at BDT 31.80 each on the premier bourse.
The company’s net profit stood at BDT 39.69 million in nine months for July, 2015 to March, 2016 as against BDT 30.28 million in the same period of the previous year.
The Post-IPO basic EPS stood at BDT 0.67 for nine months and net asst value (NAV) per share would be BDT 13.72 as on 31 March, 2016.
The company’s paid-up capital is BDT 590 million and authorised capital is BDT 1,000 million while the total number of securities is 590, 000,000. The company’s total market cap stood at BDT 2,289.20 million as on Thursday.
The sponsor-directors own 30.52 percent stake in the Yeakin Polymer while institutional investors own 24.35 percent and the general public 45.13 percent as on June 30, 2015, the DSE data showed.
Yeakin Polymer was, closely followed by LankaBangla Finance with shares worth over BDT 969 million changing hands, followed by Bangladesh Submarine Cable Company with BDT 757 million, MJL Bangladesh BDT 734 million, Bangladesh Shipping Corporation BDT 631 million and Singer Bangladesh BDT 524 million.
GSP Finance was also included in the top turnover chart with shares of BDT 519 million changing hands, followed by Doreen Power with BDT 499 million, Lafarge Surma Cement BDT 489 million and National Tubes BDT 478 million.
