Bangladesh’s stocks down at opening

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) – Bangladesh’s stocks witnessed downward trend in early hour of trading on Thursday as most of the investors followed cautious stance.

Both bourses – the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) saw negative trend till the report was filed at 10:45am.

The key index of the DSE fell 8.19 points, while the Selective Category Index of port city bourse lost 9.23 points within 15 minutes of the day’s trading at 10:45am.

DHAKA STOCK EXCHANGE:

DSEX, the prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), went down by 8.19 points or 0.17 percent to stand at 4,694.32 points, when the report was filed at 10:45am.

The two other indices also saw negative trend till then. The DS30 index, comprising blue chips, fell 2.82 points or 0.16 percent to reach at 1,747.73 points.

The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) lost 1.68 points or 0.15 percent to stand at 1,112.81 points.

DSE turnover stands at BDT 440 million when the report was filed at 10:45am, riding on the newly listed Fortune Shoes, which accounts for BDT 224 million alone.

Of the issues traded till then, 95 advanced, 48 declined and 45 issues remained unchanged.

Fortune Shoes, which made share trading debut today, dominated the turnover chart with shares worth BDT 224 million changing hands till then, followed by Doreen Power, Rahima Food, Hamid Fabrics and National Tubes.

CHITTAGONG STOCK EXCHANGE:

The port city bourse CSE also saw negative trend till then with its Selective Category Index- CSCX–falling 9.23 points to stand at 8,782.25 points, also at 10:45am.

Of the issues traded till then, 18 gained, 37 declined and 11 issues remained unchanged with a turnover value of BDT 60 million.
