National Bank rules week’s turnover chart on DSE

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) – National Bank dominated the week’s transaction chart of the Dhaka bourse that ended on Thursday as investors were active on the bank’s shares.

According to statistics available with the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), about 103.09 million shares of National Bank were traded, generating a turnover of over BDT 1.02 billion last week. It was 3.97 percent of the week’s total turnover.

The daily average turnover for the company was BDT 204 million.
Each share of the bank closed at BDT 10.10 on Thursday, the last trading session of the week, registering an increase of 6.32 percent over the previous week.

The board of director of the bank disbursed 15 percent stock dividend for the year ended on December 31, 2015.

As per un-audited second quarter financial reports, the bank’s consolidated earning per share (EPS) was BDT 0.97 for April-June, 2016 as against BDT 0.43 for April-June, 2015.

Consolidated EPS was BDT 1.21 for January-June, 2016 as against BDT 0.66 for January-June, 2015. Consolidated net operating cash flow per share (NOCFPS) was BDT (4.56) for January-June, 2016 as against BDT 5.21 for January-June, 2015. Consolidated NAV per share was BDT 19.11 as of June 30, 2016 and BDT 17.92 as of June 30, 2015.

The bank was listed on the Dhaka bourse in 1984. The bank belongs to the “A” category.

The sponsor-directors own 27.95 percent stake in bank, while institutional investors own 24.64 percent, foreign 2.80 percent and the general public 44.61 per cent.
The bank’s paid-up capital is BDT 19,753.80 million and authorised capital is BDT 30,000 million while total number of securities is 1,975,377,912, according to DSE figures.

The company’s total market capitalisation stood at BDT 19,951.32 million as of Thursday.

The National Bank was followed by Doreen Power with shares worth BDT with 903 million changing hands, followed by Titas Gas BDT 641 million, Bangladesh Steel Re-rolling Mills BDT 530 million, Fortune Shoes BDT 486 million and Square Pharmaceuticals BDT 447 million.

Singer Bangladesh was also included in the top ten turnover list with shares of BDT 417 million changing hands followed by Summit Power BDT 367 million, Bangladesh Building Systems BDT 365 million and MJL Bangladesh BDT 357 million.
