Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) – Bangladesh’s stocks finished almost flat in green for the second session in a row on Monday with high turnover as investors were active both sides of trading fence.
Both bourses – the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed in the flat green zone.
After witnessing volatility almost throughout the session, the key index of the DSE advanced 0.70 points, while the Selective Category Index of port city bourse rose8.21 points.
Analysts said market closed in flat green zone after a highly volatile trading session, reflecting investors’ reactions to the declared earning performances.
DHAKA STOCK EXCHANGE:
DSEX, the prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), finished at 4,693.70 points, advancing 0.70 points or 0.01 percent over the previous session.
The two other indices also closed in the green zone. The DS30 comprising blue chips gained 3.33 points or 0.19 percent to settle at 1,757.54 points.
The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) rose 2.05 points or 0.18 percent to close at 1,119.60 points.
Turnover, the important indicator of the market, crossed BDT 6.0 billion and amounted to BDT 6.45 billion after 15 sessions, which was 14 percent higher than the previous session’s turnover of BDT 5.67 billion.
The losers took a modest lead over the gainers as out of 325 issues traded, 164 closed lower, 118 closed higher and 43 remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.
The newly listed Fortune Shoes dominated the DSE turnover chart with some 6.72 million shares worth over BDT 363 million changing hands, closely followed by Doreen Power BDT 331 million, MJL Bangladesh BDT 172 million, KDS Accessories BDT 135 million and IT Consultants BDT 106 million.
Miracle Industries was the day’s best performer, posting a 9.84 percent gain, while Dulamia Cotton was the worst loser, slumping by 12.50 percent.
Chittagong Stock Exchange:
The port city bourse, the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also closed slightly higher with its Selective Categories Index- CSCX –advancing 1.85 points to settle at 8,770.03 points.
Losers beat gainers as 138 issues closed lower, 83 closed higher and 33 remained unchanged on the CSE.
The port city bourse traded 11.50 million shares and mutual fund units’ worth over BDT 370 million in turnover.
