Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) - Confidence Cement dominated the week’s transaction chart of the Dhaka bourse last week that ended on Thursday as investors were active on its shares throughout the week.
According to statistics available with the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), about 12.93 million shares of Confidence Cement were traded, generating a turnover of BDT 1.54 billion last week. It was 5.22 percent of the week’s total turnover.
The daily average turnover for the power generation company was BDT 308 million.
Each share of the company closed at BDT 127.80 on Thursday, the last trading session of the week, registering an increase of 25 percent over the previous week.
On November 1, the board of directors of the Confidence Cement has recommended 10 percent final cash dividend (Total 37.50 percent cash dividend inclusive of 27.50 percent interim cash dividend already disbursed) for the 18 months period ended on June 30, 2016.
The company has reported earnings per share (EPS) of BDT 14.80, net asset value (NAV) per share of BDT 73.75 and net operating cash flow per share (NOCFPS) of BDT 12.66 for the 18 months period from January 01, 2015 to June 30, 2016 as against BDT 6.32, BDT 63.67 and BDT (0.67) respectively for the period from July 01, 2013 to December 31, 2014.
The company’s paid-up capital is BDT 450 million and authorised capital is BDT 1,000 million while the total number of securities is 44,993,520..
The sponsor-directors own 23.47 percent stake in the Confidence Cement while institutional investors own 38.75 percent and the general public 37.78 percent as on September 29, 2016, the DSE data showed.
Confidence Cement was, followed by Doreen Power with shares worth nearly BDT 1.0 million changing hands, followed by Shasha Denim BDT 927 million, Square Pharmaceuticals BDT 871 million, Apex Footwear BDT 702 million, MJL Bangladesh BDT 676 million and Bangladesh Building Systems BDT 652 million.
Quasem Drycells was also included week’s top ten turnover chart with shares worth BDT 605 million, followed by Brac Bank BDT 525 million and Bangladesh Steel Re-rolling Mills BDT 525 million.
