BBS dominates week’s transaction chart of DSE

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- Bangladesh Building Systems (BBS) dominated the transaction chart of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) last week that ended on Thursday.
According to statistics available with the DSE, some 26.29 million shares of BBS were traded, generating a turnover ofBDT 1.13 billion. It was 3.14 percent of the premier bourse’s total turnover value.
The daily average turnover for the company was BDT 226 million.
Each share of the pre‐engineered steel buildings structure manufacturer, which was listed on the bourses in 2013, closed at BDT 43.20 on Thursday, the last session of the week, gaining 3.85 percent over the previous week.
The company disclosed Q1 financial report on Monday. As per Q1 financial report, the company's earnings per share (EPS) stood BDT 0.85 for July-September, 2016 as against BDT 0.54 for July-September, 2015.
Recently, the board of directors has decided to withdraw the rights issue application from securities regulator subject to the approval of the members in the annual general meeting due to favorable financing proposal from other source to meet up the cost of business expansion of the company.
The board of directors has recommended 5.0 percent cash dividend (excluding sponsors) and 10 percent stock dividend for the year ended on June 30, 2016.
The company’s paid-up capital is BDT 1,059.84 million and authorised capital is BDT 1,500 million while the total number of securities is 105,984,000.
The sponsor-directors own 31.95 percent stake in the BBS, while institutional investors own 30.70 percent, foreign 0.13 percent and the general public 37.22 percent as on October 31, 2016, the DSE data showed.

Bangladesh Building Systems was, closely followed by Quasem Drycells BDT 936 million, Doreen Power BDT 899 million, Lafarge Surma Cement BDT 875 million, Beximco BDT 820 million and National Tubes BDT 773 million.
Shasha Denims was also included in the top ten turnover list with shares worth BDT 762 million changing hands, followed by Fortune Shoes BDT 695 million, Ratanpur Steel Re-rolling Mills BDT 681 million and Golden Harvest Agro Industries BDT 670 million.
