Last updated: March 13, 2011
Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- Under a comprehensive plan to enhance procurement capacity of project executing agencies, the Asian Development Bank (ADB) will organize seven procurement workshops for Bangladesh government officials in 2011.
The first workshop will be held in Chittagong on March 14-16 this year. Over 25 government officials from project executing agencies will participate in the workshop focusing on real-life practical examples on procurement and consultant selection that would make the workshop a unique learning experience.
Six other workshops planned for 2011 will be held in Dhaka, Khulna and Bogra to cover government officials and staff of executing agencies across the country.

“The workshops planned for 2011 will provide hands on knowledge on consultant recruitment, procurement planning, bid packaging, request for proposals, bidding documents, bid evaluation, and finalization of contracts according to ADB Guidelines,” Thevakumar Kandiah, Country Director for ADB’s Bangladesh Resident Mission, said in a statement  on Sunday.
“The workshops will also focus on the ADB guidelines on procurement and use of consultants, relevant project administration instructions (PAIs), and procedures.” “The workshops will enhance the capacity and efficiency of executing agencies enabling them to better handle procurement issues so that procurement time is reduced and projects are implemented more efficiently,” Mr. Kandiah added.
