Elizabeth Taylor dies at 79

Los Angeles, CA, United States (BBN) - Hollywood icon Elizabeth Taylor died on Wednesday of congestive heart failure. She was 79.

The double Oscar-winning actress had a long history of ill health and was being treated for symptoms of congestive heart failure.

Her four children were with her when she died at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, according to her publicist.

“My mother was an extraordinary woman who lived life to the fullest, with great passion, humour and love,” Taylor’s son Michael Wilding said in a statement.

Taylor won two Best Actress Oscars in the 1960s, for her roles in ‘Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf’ and ‘Butterfield 8’.

She was also known for her eight marriages, including having been married twice to actor Richard Burton.
