BCB thinking changes in team management

Last updated: April 3, 2011

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is thinking to bring a drastic change in the team-management and the selection committee after the inconsistent performance of the national side in the World Cup.

Bangladesh, who had won three matches in the tournament including one against England, also had some below-par performance against the West Indies and South Africa when they could muster only 58 runs and 78 runs respectively.

The BCB members were dismayed at these two results and so they are trying hard to find out the real reason behind it. There is a strong possibility that the Board will not extend the contracts of most of the foreign coaches.

For this reason bowling coach Ian Pont had already flown back home on Friday and there is a little chance of him returning to train Tigers on a long-term basis.

“We might bring him on short-term deal but there is a very low chance of keeping him for a long time,” Enayet Hossain Siraj, cricket operations chief of the BCB, was quoted by New Age, a local newspaper, as saying. He added: “Pont has other things to do as well like managing his own business and coaching over there.”

After the series against Australia the BCB will likely give advertisement for the coaches.

Not only the team-management, there is also a good chance of reshuffling the selection committee as well, the newspaper reported.
