Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon arrived in the capital, Dhaka on Saturday afternoon on a two-day visit to Bangladesh.
Foreign Affairs Advisor Iftekhar Ahmed Chowdhury received him at Zia International Airport in Dhaka at 5:30pm (local time), according to reports.
The UN secretary general is accompanied by his wife. He is leading a 15-member delegation including one under secretary general of the UN.
The UN chief is scheduled to meet President Iajuddin Ahmed, Chief Advisor Fakhruddin Ahmed and Foreign Advisor Iftekhar Ahmed Chowdhury.
Mr. Ban will meet the foreign advisor on Saturday evening and attend a dinner hosted by the chief advisor in his honour.
He is also likely to meet some political leaders on Sunday to discuss the country's upcoming general election scheduled to be held on December 18 this year.
The UN secretary-general will visit the National Mausoleum at Savar on Sunday morning to pay homage to the martyrs of the Liberation War.
Later, he will visit an UNDP-funded Comprehensive Disaster Management Project in Sirajganj and a Grameen Bank project site in Bogra.
