Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) – Bangladesh’s stocks witnessed upward trend in early hour of trading on Wednesday as some optimistic investors were active on sector specific stocks.
Both bourses - the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) opened positive trend in early trading, maintaining the previous day’s upturn.
After 15 minutes of trading, the key index of the country’s prime bourse advanced 9.73 points while the Selective Category Index of port city bourse rose 15.12 points when the report was filing at 10:45am.
DHAKA STOCK EXCHANGE:
DSEX, the benchmark index of the DSE, went up by 9.73 points or 0.17 per cent to stand at 5632.23 points, when the report was filed at 10:45am.
The two other indices also saw positive trend.
The DS30 index, comprising blue chips, advanced 3.46 points or 0.17 per cent to reach at 2,035.18 points.
The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) gained 1.83 points or 0.14 per cent to stand at 1,309.25 points till then.
Turnover, the important indicator of the market, stands at BDT 1.16 billion when the report was filed at 10:45 million.
Keya Cosmetics dominated the turnover chart with shares worth BDT 198 million changing hands till then, followed by Shepherd Industries BDT 178 million, LankaBangla BDT 130 million, Bangladesh Shipping Corporation BDT 62 million and AFC Agro Biotech BDT 57 million.
Of the issues traded till then, 105 advanced, 49 declined and 45 issues remained unchanged.
CHITTAGONG STOCK EXCHANGE:
The port city bourse CSE also saw upward trend till then with its Selective Category Index - CSCX – advancing 15.12 points to stand at 10572 points, also at 10:45am.
Of the issues traded till then, 31 gained, 25 declined and 7 issues remained unchanged with a turnover value of BDT 88 million.
