Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) - Bangladesh’s stocks kept the early hour’s upbeat trend at midday on Wednesday as the optimistic investors continued their buying spree.
Maintaining the previous day’s upturn, the market opened with upward trend and the key index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) advanced 9.73 points to reach at 5,632 points at 10:45am.
After 30 minutes of trading, the key index of the country’s major bourse advanced 10.68 points while the Selective Category Index of port city bourse soared 21.10 points at 11:00am.
At 12:00 noon, the maintained the upward trend and DSEX went up by 30.32 points while the Selective Category Index of port city bourse advanced 69.40 points when the report was filing.
DHAKA STOCK EXCHANGE:
After one and a half hours of trading, DSEX, the prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) stands at 5,652.82 points, advancing 30.32 points or 0.54 per cent when the report was filing at 12:00 noon.
The two other indices also saw upward trend till then.
The DS30 index, comprising blue chips advanced 11.95 points or 0.58 per cent to reach at 2,043.68 points.
The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) also gained 5.25 points or 0.40 per cent to reach at 1,312.68 points.
Turnover, the crucial indicator of the market, stands at BDT 5.28 billion when the report was filed at 12:00 noon.
Shepherd Industries, which made debut today, dominated the turnover chart with shares worth BDT 340 million changing hands till then, closely followed by City Bank BDT 320 million, Keya Cosmetics BDT 312 million, LankaBangla Finance BDT 288 million and Bangladesh Thai Aluminum BDT 226 million.
Of the issues traded till then, 135 advanced, 124 declined and 53 issues remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.
CHITTAGONG STOCK EXCHANGE:
The port city bourse – the Chittagong Stock Exchange – (CSE) also saw upward trend till then as its Selective Category Index – CSCX –gaining 69.40 points to stand at 10,626 points, also at 12:00 noon.
Of the issues traded till then, 95 gained, 62 declined and 33 issues remained unchanged with BDT 312 million in turnover.
