Western Marine signs deal with Nurjahan Group

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) - New Western Marine Ship Builders Limited, a leading shipyard in Bangladesh, will build four oil tankers for Nurjahan Group at a cost of BDT 500 million.

The four oil tankers with capacity of 1350 dwt (dead weight tonnage) each will make edible oil to ferry easier and faster within the country for the Nurjahan Group.

Md. Sakhawat Hossain, Managing Director of the Western Marine, and Mr. Zahir Ahammed, Managing Director of the Nurjahan Group, signed the agreement on behalf of their respective companies on Monday at a hotel in the port city.

Both the companies hope that commissioning of the oil tankers will help keep food price stable by supplying edible oil rapidly and constantly across the country.

Length of each tanker, approved by class Germanischer Lloyd, is 63.80 meter, breadth 10.10 meter, depth 5.7 meter.
