Bangladesh’s stocks open positive

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) – Bangladesh’s stocks witnessed upward trend in early hour of trading on Monday, the second trading session of the week.

Both the bourses - the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) - saw positive trend when the report was filed at 10:45am amid slow trend.

The key index of the DSE advanced 8.94 points, while the Selective Category Index of the port city bourse gained 30.36 points within first 15 minutes of the day’s trading at 10:45am.

DHAKA STOCK EXCHANGE:

DSEX, the prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), went up by 8.94 points or 0.16 percent to stand at 5,704.40 points when this report was filed at 10:45am.

The two other indices also open positive.

The DS30 index, comprising blue chips, advanced 2.55 points or 0.12 percent to reach at 2068.86 points.

The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) also advanced 0.11 point to stand at 1,307.93 points.

Turnover, the important indicator of the market, stands at BDT 577 million when the report was filed at 10:45am, riding on City Bank and IFIC Bank.

City Bank dominated the turnover chart with shares worth BDT 82 million changing hands till then, followed by IFIC Bank BDT 56 million, National Tubes BDT 52 million, Brac Bank BDT 38 million and Ratanpur Steel Re-rolling Mills BDT 30 million.

Of the issues traded till then, 92 advanced, 40 declined and 48 issues remained unchanged.

CHITTAGONG STOCK EXCHANGE:

The port city bourse, CSE, also saw positive trend till then with its Selective Category Index – CSCX – gaining 30.36 points to stand at 10,760 points at 10:45am.

Of the issues traded till then, 39 gained, 12 declined and 20 issues remained unchanged with a turnover value of BDT 22 million.
