Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) - Bangladesh’s stocks stayed upbeat at midday on Tuesday as the optimistic investors remained on buying spree on sector specific large-cap stocks.
Following the previous day’s upturn, both bourses - the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) opened higher as investors mostly on buying mood on sector specific large-cap shares, especially from bank.
After 15 minutes of trading, the key index of the country’s prime bourse advanced nearly 38 points while the Selective Category Index of port city bourse rose 74 points at 10:45am.
After 30 minutes of trading, the prime index of the major bourse reached at 5793, advancing 53.69 points while the Selective Category Index of port city bourse rose 102 points at 11:00am.
At 12:00 noon, the DSEX went up by 42.47 points while the Selective Category Index of port city bourse advanced 96.48 points when the report was filing.
DHAKA STOCK EXCHANGE:
After one and a half hours of trading, DSEX, the prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) stands at 5,781, gaining 42.47 points or 0.74 per cent when the report was filing at 12:00 noon.
The two other indices also saw upward trend.
The DS30 index, comprising blue chips soared 25.20 points or 1.19 percent to reach at 2,141 points.
The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) rose 6.83 points or 0.52 per cent to reach at 1,327 points.
Turnover, the crucial indicator of the market, stands at BDT 3.81 billion when the report was filed at 12:00 noon riding on City Bank and LankaBangla Finance.
City Bank dominated the turnover chart with shares worth BDT 349 million changing hands till then, followed by LankaBangla Finance BDT 188 million, Brac Bank BDT 185 million, GP BDT 138 million and GPH Ispat BDT 116 million.
Of the issues traded till then, 175 advanced, 76 declined and 61 issues remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.
CHITTAGONG STOCK EXCHANGE:
The port city bourse – the Chittagong Stock Exchange – (CSE) also stayed upbeat note with its Selective Category Index – CSCX – gaining 95.48 points to stand at 10,887 points, also at 12:00 noon.
Of the issues traded till then, 121 gained, 51 declined and 26 issues remained unchanged with BDT 228 million in turnover.
