Bangladesh’s stocks stay down at midday

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) - Bangladesh’s stocks stayed downward trend at midday on Wednesday as the risk-averse investors continued on profit booking mood on quick-gaining stocks.
Following the previous day’s fresh high, both bourses - the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) opened lower as investors mostly on selling mood.
After 15 minutes of trading, the key index of the country’s prime bourse fell 15.09 points while the Selective Category Index of port city bourse lost 15.41 points at 10:45am.
After 30 minutes of trading, the prime index of the major bourse stands at 5767.64, losing 9.47 points while the Selective Category Index of port city bourse lost 32 points at 11:00am.
At 12:00 noon, the DSEX went down by 26.77 points while the Selective Category Index of port city bourse lost 46 points when the report was filing.
DHAKA STOCK EXCHANGE:
After one and a half hours of trading, DSEX, the prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) stands at 5,750.34, losing 26.77 points or 0.46 per cent when the report was filing at 12:00 noon.
The two other indices also saw negative trend.
The DS30 index, comprising blue chips fell 11.67 points or 0.54 per cent to reach at 2,131.99 points.
The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) lost 9.07 points or 0.68 per cent to reach at 1,315 points.
Turnover, the crucial indicator of the market, stands at BDT 4.18 billion when the report was filed at 12:00 noon riding on Beximco and City Bank.
Beximco dominated the turnover chart with shares worth BDT 431 million changing hands till then, followed by City Bank BDT 331 million, Brac Bank BDT 172 million, BSRM Steels BDT 136 million and Beximco Pharma BDT 130 million.
Of the issues traded till then, 127 advanced, 133 declined and 45 issues remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.
CHITTAGONG STOCK EXCHANGE:
The port city bourse – the Chittagong Stock Exchange – (CSE) also stayed downward trend with its Selective Category Index – CSCX – losing 46 points to stand at 10,818 points, also at 12:00 noon.
Of the issues traded till then, 64 gained, 87 declined and 30 issues remained unchanged with BDT 195 million in turnover.
