Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) - Bangladesh’s stocks failed to stay positive at midday on Thursday as the risk-averse investors started to book profit on quick-gaining stocks.
Following the previous day’s mild correction, both bourses -- the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) opened upward trend with increasing trading activities.
After 15 minutes of trading, the key index of the country’s prime bourse advanced 17.10 points while the Selective Category Index of port city bourse gained 21.18 points at 10:45am.
After 30 minutes of trading, the prime index of the major bourse stands at 5,782, advancing 25.32 points while the Selective Category Index of port city bourse rose 39 points at 11:00am.
However, since then it started to fall amid slow trading.
At 12:00 noon, the DSEX went down by 9.22 points while the Selective Category Index of port city bourse lost 4.83 points when the report was filing.
DHAKA STOCK EXCHANGE:
After one and a half hours of trading, DSEX, the prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) stands at 5,747.70, losing 9.22 points or 0.17 per cent when the report was filing at 12:00 noon.
The DS30 index, comprising blue chips also fell 3.66 points or 0.16 per cent to reach at 2,135.50 points.
However, the DSE Shariah Index (DSES) advanced 0.30 point or 0.02 percent to reach at 1,317.45 points.
Turnover, the crucial indicator of the market, stands at BDT 4.68 billion when the report was filed at 12:00 noon riding on Beximco and City Bank.
Beximco dominated the turnover chart with shares worth BDT 385 million changing hands till then, followed by City Bank BDT 279 million, Saif Powertec BDT 262 million, IDLC Finance BDT 208 million and LankaBangla Finance BDT 162 million.
Of the issues traded till then, 95 advanced, 171 declined and 46 issues remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.
CHITTAGONG STOCK EXCHANGE:
The port city bourse – the Chittagong Stock Exchange – (CSE) also failed to stay positive trend with its Selective Category Index – CSCX – losing 4.83 points to stand at 10,825 points, also at 12:00 noon.
Of the issues traded till then, 50 gained, 108 declined and 34 issues remained unchanged with BDT 205 million in turnover.
