Bangladesh’s stocks return to higher

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) - Bangladesh’s stocks returnd to higher Tuesday, after single-session break, as optimistic investors took position on some large-cap stocks.
Following the previous day’s sharp decline, the key index of the country’s prime bourse advanced 21 points while the Selective Category Index of port city bourse rose 33 points within first 15 minutes of trading at 10:45am.
After 30 minutes of trading, the DSEX stands at 5,492, gaining 16 points, while the Selective Category Index of port city bourse advanced 28 points.
At 11:40am, it tried to go down, but optimistic investors came forward and the upward trend continued till end of the session.
DHAKA STOCK EXCHANGE:
After four hours trading session, DSEX, the prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), finished at 5521, gaining 45.83 points or 0.83 percent after over the previous session.
The DS30 index, comprising the blue-chips, advanced 16.24 points or 0.80 percent to settle at 2032 points.
The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) gained 10.68 points or 0.84 percent to close at 1275 points.
Trading activities also rose to BDT 7.74 billion, which was 26 percent higher than the previous day’s BDT 6.14 billion.
Losers, however, took a modest lead over the gainers, as prices of 154 securities declined, 144 advanced and 27 remained unchanged out of the 325 issues that were traded on the DSE floor.
United Power Generation and Distribution Company dominated the day’s turnover chart with shares of BDT 509 million changing hands, followed by LankaBangla Finance, Saif Powertec, Bangladesh Finance and Prime Bank.
Bangladesh Fiannce was the day’s top gainer, posting 8.38 percent gain while Janata Insurance was the worst lower, losing 20 percent following the news of its no dividend declaration.
CHITTAGONG STOCK EXCHANGE:
The port city bourse, the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE), also ended higher with its Selective Categories Index – CSCX – advancing 70.22 points to settle at 10,374.
Gainers beat losers as 1105 issues closed higher, 101 closed lower and 29 remained unchanged on the CSE trading floor.
The port city bourse traded 16.32 million shares and mutual fund units worth BDT 461 million in turnover.
