Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- Bangladesh’s stocks witnessed downward trend at midday on Thursday as risk-averse investors went on selling binge on specific stocks.
Following the previous day’s marginal correction, the key index of the country’s prime bourse fell 2.65 points while the Selective Category Index of port city bourse advanced 30 points within first 15 minutes of trading at 10:45am.
The key index of the country’s prime bourse advanced 6.86 points while the Selective Category Index of port city bourse rose 25 points within first 30 minutes of trading at 11am.
After 30 minutes of trading, the DSEX stands at 5,518, advancing 6.86 points, while the Selective Category Index of port city bourse rose 25 points.
After that it started to decline and eroded gains as the session progressed.
At 12:00 noon, the DSEX lost 5.71 points while the Selective Category Index of port city bourse stayed positive with 3.11 points gain when the report was filing.
DHAKA STOCK EXCHANGE:
After one and a half hours of trading, DSEX, the prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) stands at 5,509 points, losing 5.71 points or 0.10 percent when the report was filing at 12:00 noon.
The DS30 index, comprising blue chips also fell 0.30 point or 0.01 percent to reach at 2,026 points.
The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) lost 0.39 points or 0.03 percent to reach at 1,274 points.
Turnover, the crucial indicator of the market, stands at BDT 2.88 billion, when the report was filed at 12:00 noon.
Doreen Power led the turnover chart with shares worth BDT 285 million changing hands till then, followed by ONE Bank BDT 130 million, LankaBangla Finance BDT 121 million, Bangladesh Shipping Corporation BDT 110 million and IFAD Autos BDT 89 million.
Of the issues traded till then, 114 advanced, 128 declined and 57 issues remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.
CHITTAGONG STOCK EXCHANGE:
The port city bourse – the Chittagong Stock Exchange – (CSE) stayed positive with its Selective Category Index – CSCX –gaining 3.11 points to stand at 10,361 points, also at 12:00 noon.
Of the issues traded till then, 62 gained, 63 declined and 28 issues remained unchanged with BDT 102 million in turnover.
