Bangladesh Taka depreciates 2 paisa against $US at closing

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) – The value of Bangladesh Taka (BDT) depreciated two paisa against the US currency during evening transactions on Tuesday in inter-bank foreign exchange (forex) market.
The US dollar was quoted at maximum BDT 80.55 – BDT 80.57 at closing.
During the early transactions, the American currency was quoted BDT 80.53 – BDT 80.55.
“The value of the American currency increased suddenly due to import payments obligations by a leading state-owned bank,” a senior treasury official of a leading commercial bank told the BBN in Dhaka Tuesday evening.
The exchange rate of the local currency and the US dollar remained BDT 80.53 – BDT 80.55 since May 22 this year.
Bangladesh foreign exchange market remained closed on Friday and Saturday as those were weekend in the country.
