Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- Bangladesh’s stocks kept its upward trend at midday on Tuesday as some optimistic investors continued their buying spree on sector specific stocks.
Following the previous five days’ positive trend, both bourses -- Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) -- opened higher amid increased investors’ participation.
Within first 30 minutes of trading, the key index of the country’s prime bourse advanced more than 17 points while the Selective Category Index of port city bourse rose 21 points when the report was filing at 10:30am.
After first hour of trading, DSEX, the prime index of the DSE went up by 14.63 points or 0.26 per cent to stand at 5,497 points when the report was filed at 11:00am.
After two hours of the trading, DSEX went up by 10.69 points, while the Selective Category Index of port city’s bourse rose 14 points when the report was filing at 12:00 noon.
DHAKA STOCK EXCHANGE
After first half of trading, DSEX, the prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) stands at 5,493 points, advancing 10.69 points or 0.19 percent at 12:00 noon.
The DS30 index, comprising blue chips advanced 2.87 points or 0.14 percent to reach at 2048 points. The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) also gained 1.18 points or 0.09 percent to reach at 1,272 points.
Turnover, the crucial indicator of the market, stands at BDT 3.14 billion, when the report was filed at 12:00 noon.
Shahjibazar Power topped the turnover chart with shares worth BDT 381 million changing hands till then, closely followed by Brac Bank BDT 196 million, LankaBangla Finance BDT 148 million, MJL Bangladesh BDT 109 million and Regent Textile BDT 105 million.
Of the issues traded till then, 171 advanced, 87 declined and 54 issues remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.
CHITTAGONG STOCK EXCHANGE
The port city bourse – the Chittagong Stock Exchange – (CSE) also saw positive trend with its Selective Category Index – CSCX –advancing 14 points to stand at 10,306 points, also at 12:00 noon.
Of the issues traded till then, 88 gained, 54 declined and 33 issues remained unchanged with BDT 144 billion in turnover.
